‘Request That Trade,’ ‘Don’t Blame Him for Being Frustrated’ — NFL Fans Push Justin Jefferson To Confront Vikings Over Offensive Woes

The Minnesota Vikings are no longer the only undefeated team in the league after falling 19-15 to the Detroit Lions in Week 8. The loss dropped them to 6-1, with their offense once again struggling to get much going.

Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson passed on the postgame microphone after the loss, but fans had plenty to say about the team’s struggles.

Fans Urge Justin Jefferson To Demand a Trade From Vikings

The Athletic’s Alec Lewis reported that Jefferson had no comment through a team spokesperson after the Vikings’ loss to the Lions. That prompted a wave of responses from fans who felt the receiver had every reason to be frustrated.

“He’s been incredible attitude-wise. I don’t blame him for being frustrated right now,”one fan wrote.

Another offered a shorter endorsement. “I don’t blame him one bit,”the fan wrote.

Jefferson caught five passes for 33 yards and a touchdown on nine targets against Detroit. His longest reception went for just nine yards, as Minnesota struggled to get its most dangerous receiving weapon involved in the offense.

Naturally, many fans felt Jefferson had every reason to lose his patience with the team.

“Thank god, please start crashing out,”one user wrote.

“[Expletive], I was hoping he blew up. It’s time he does it, and he has every right to,”another remarked.

Others wanted Jefferson to take his frustration directly to head coach Kevin O’Connell and make it clear that the team’s quarterback situation needed to change.

“If I’m Justin Jefferson, I’m going into KOC’s office and saying, ‘Trade for a QB or trade me’,”one fan wrote.

Other viewers skipped straight to the exit strategy. “Go ahead and request that trade demon,”one user on X wrote.

“Jefferson needs to pursue other options. Minnesota isn’t serious about pursuing a viable offense. The QB whisperer has continually failed,”another said.

Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray finished 17-of-29 for 210 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against Detroit. Through six games, he ranks No. 25 in the league with a PFN QB Impact Score of 69.8.

Minnesota briefly took a 15-12 lead in the fourth quarter after Murray connected with T.J. Hockenson for a touchdown, and the Vikings converted the two-point attempt. Detroit answered with Jared Goff’s touchdown pass to Jameson Williams with 4:40 remaining.

The Vikings had one more chance to respond but went three-and-out and punted. They never got the ball back.

Murray acknowledged after the game that Jefferson needed more opportunities and said he understood the receiver’s frustration.

“We gotta find ways to get him the ball,” Murray told reporters. “Obviously they’re gonna double him, and they did today. Doubled a couple of guys today. And that’s just part of it. This is my first year with him… Obviously, he’s frustrated, and that’s understandable. He is who he is, and he has every right to feel the way he feels when he doesn’t get the ball.”

Despite the loss, Minnesota remains in a strong position at 6-1. However, Sunday’s result showed how much the Vikings need a more consistent passing game if they want to make a serious run this season.
