Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has emerged as the prime target for Juventus.

Juventus have been working hard to sign a new goalkeeper following the struggles of Michele Di Gregorio last season. They have been left disappointed in the pursuit of Alisson Becker, whose move has been blocked by Liverpool, while Aston Villa continue to be equally tough to deal with over Emiliano Martinez. This has led to the Turin giants shift their focus toward Guglielmo Vicario.

Vicario’s long-term future at White Hart Lane has become uncertain after Roberto De Zerbi admitted to promoting youngster Antonin Kinsky as the new No.1 following his impressive displays at the back end of last season. Earlier this summer, Spurs added Martin Dubravka to their goalkeeping ranks, further leaving the position of Vicario at the club in limbo.

The Italian international remains under consideration at Juventus. In search of a new No.1, the Bianconeri also have Parma’s Zion Suzuki on their radar, although they have fallen behind Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit.

Transfer news king Fabrizio Romano recently revealed on X that even if PSG complete a move for Suzuki, the goalkeeper could join Juventus on a season-long loan. The French champions offered Lucas Chevalier to Juventus, but they are not keen thus far.

Italian journalist Gianni Visnadi has now acknowledged that while Suzuki’s performances for Parma had left a positive impression on him, Vicario remains ‘stronger’ than the Japanese international.

“Suzuki to Juve? The goalkeeper is interesting Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Bianconeri,” Gianni Visnadi said on Radio Sportiva (h/t Tutto Juve).

“He seemed like a good goalkeeper to me at Parma, but Vicario seems stronger. The interest we’ve seen, however, is based on technical evidence that carries weight.”

Juventus must go for Vicario

Vicario remains a prominent option for the Old Lady. Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has backed his former club to recruit the Tottenham man to solve their woes. Indeed, the 29-year-old’s proven international pedigree, Premier League knowhow and trophy-winning experience with Tottenham are clear indicators of his credentials to cope with the demands of playing for Juventus.

In comparison, Suzuki is one of the highly rated young goalkeepers across Europe. He had a strong season with Parma in Serie A, and enhanced his reputation with Japan at the 2026 World Cup. The shot-stopper was outstanding against Brazil in the Round of 32, making a series of top saves.

While Suzuki is a young, dynamic and exciting glovesman with high potential, Luciano Spalletti’s side requires an experienced head between the sticks. And Vicario, in that regard, fits the profile better than the Japanese talent.
