Maresca brushed off another Gianluigi Donnarumma error but said his team collectively need to stop giving 'silly goals' away. The Manchester City goalkeeper made three mistakes in a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig, one of which led to a goal, but Maresca defended his No.1. Pointing to a terrific save the stopper made from Christoph Baumgartner just before he was beaten at his near post by a cross, Maresca still believes Donnarumma can do things that nobody else in his position can. However, he admitted that the Italian - and many of his teammates - need to do better to sharpen up at the back.
"Not a concern but it's a mistake. We recognise that it's a mistake," said Maresca. "At the moment I'm not thinking about the goalkeeping situation. A few minutes before the goal he’s done a save that no keeper in the world makes. Gigio knows he was not good with the first goal. He’s going to do better."
