The Atlanta Falcons have ruled out running back Brian Robinson Jr. and three other players ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Robinson missed the last two days of practice due to a hamstring injury and will now miss his first game of the season this Sunday.

The veteran running back signed with the Falcons over the offseason as a cheap replacement for Tyler Allgeier. Thus far, Robinson has thrived in his role as Bijan Robinson's backup, rushing for 211 yards and four touchdowns on 4.0 yards per attempt.

Since the Falcons still have just two running backs on their 53-man roster, they are elevating Khalil Herbert from the practice squad for Sunday's game in Atlanta. Herbert, a former sixth-round pick by the Chicago Bears, has rushed for 1,957 yards and nine touchdowns over five NFL seasons.

If you're wondering why the Falcons only have two active running backs, it likely has to do with the team keeping four quarterbacks on the roster. Atlanta signed veteran Andy Dalton on Monday and released Cooper Rush, which was a somewhat puzzling move since the Falcons still have Tua Tagovailoa and Jack Strand.

The Falcons have some other notable injuries going into NFL Week 7. Linebacker Divine Deablo and cornerback Billy Bowman Jr. have been ruled out, while 10 other players, including Kendal Daniels, A.J. Terrell and C.J. Henderson are questionable.
