Mohamed Salah has seemingly taken a swipe at Beskitas’ president after scoring against the club on Monday.
Salah continued his remarkable recent form as he scored the second in a 2-0 win for his side Trabzonspor. The 34-year-old has nine goals and four assists from 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and has made a goal contribution in seven of his last nine games.
The win saw Trabzonspor leapfrog Besiktas into fourth in the Turkish Super Lig, where it now sits just three points behind leaders Galatasaray - and Salah appeared to have a message for his opponents after Monday’s game.
The Egypt international took to social media to share images of him and his Trabzonspor teammates celebrating, along with the caption “yüzde otuz beş,” which translates to “thirty-five percent,” along with a winking emoji.
Although the message may not be immediately clear to a lot of supporters, it seems as though it may be directed at Besiktas president Serdal Adali.
Salah was strongly linked with a move to Besiktas during the summer after leaving Liverpool, with Adali even claiming at one point that the winger had given the go-ahead for the switch, only for his agent Ramy Abbas to create a roadblock.
"Mohamed Salah has given his approval for this transfer, and his agent initially responded," Adali was quoted as telling WinWin.
"Salah spoke to both our technical director and our sporting director and gave his approval as well. But later, as soon as it was written in the media that 'the transfer had been completed', the agent raised the financial demands.
"The agent raised his commission to unbelievable figures, reaching about 35 percent. From our side, such a percentage cannot be accepted under any circumstances, and we do not believe that Salah is aware of these figures."
Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kit
Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
Salah would of course eventually complete the move to Trabzonspor shortly after, signing a two-year deal in August said to be worth around $19 million (€17M) per season - and he seemingly hasn’t forgotten Adali’s comments.
After a shaky start, which saw manager Fatih Tekke offer his resignation after Trabzonspor failed to qualify for the Europa League, results have picked up, thanks in no small part to Salah’s form.
The Liverpool legend will be back in action on Thursday, when his new side takes on Scottish Premiership outfit Hearts in the Conference League before traveling to Rizespor in the league the following Monday.
