Bayern Munich will look to maintain their unbeaten Bundesliga campaign when they travel to the MEWA Arena on Saturday to face Mainz 05.

The Rekordmeister enter Matchday 9 atop the Bundesliga table with 18 points from eight matches. Bayern have collected 11 points from their last five league outings and continue to boast the most productive attack in the division, with 27 goals scored. Their most recent league outing saw them draw 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund inDer Klassiker, before responding with an impressive 2-0 Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid.

Aaron Danks will once again oversee proceedings as Vincent Kompany continues his recovery, with Bayern hoping to carry their European momentum into domestic competition.

Mainz, meanwhile, sit ninth with 10 points. Although they have shown flashes of quality, their home form has been particularly concerning, with just one point collected from four league matches at the MEWA Arena.

However, Bayern Munich should not underestimate this opponent. Mainz have historically been a difficult away destination for the Munich side, and last season’s meeting required a remarkable second-half comeback after Bayern fell 3-0 behind before eventually winning 4-3.

Bayern will be overwhelming favorites, but three points will require concentration, intensity, and another professional performance.
