Aston Villa are targeting their first home league win of the season on Saturday afternoon when they host Manchester City at Villa Park.
Unai Emery’s side come into the game on the back of a 3-1 win against Viking FK on Wednesday night, which marked their third successive victory across all competitions.
After drawing 2-2 with Brentford following the extended international break, Villa thrashed Fenerbahçe 6-0 in the Champions League before beating Newcastle United 1-0 at St James’ Park last weekend.
City, meanwhile, have won all seven of their Premier League fixtures so far this season and are the only team to maintain a perfect record, leading the table by three points ahead of champions Arsenal.
They did, however, lose 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, suffering their first defeat of the campaign. They had previously beaten Porto and AEK Athens in the competition and seen off Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.
Villa boss Emery will be asked to provide an update on Johan Manzambi ahead of the match after he missed the win against Viking with a “small injury”.
Zion Suzuki will start in goal, potentially behind a defence of Matty Cash, Victor Lindelöf, Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen, who returned from injury against Viking.
Boubacar Kamara will return to the starting XI and is expected to be partnered by João Gomes.
John McGinn and Emi Buendía will play in support of Nicolas Jackson, with Manzambi starting if he is fit. If he fails to make it, Alysson could get the nod on the right wing following his impressive performance against Viking.
Predicted XI: Suzuki; Cash, Lindelöf, Torres, Maatsen; Kamara, Gomes; Alysson, McGinn, Buendia; Jackson.
