Keely Hodgkinson admitted she dines out nearly every day during a trip to Manchester United. The British middle-distance sensation made the revelation while being given a tour of the football club she supports by childhood friend and United women's player Ella Toone.
The duo have known each other since their school days and have both gone on to reach remarkable heights in their respective fields, with Hodgkinson securing Olympic 800m gold and Toone winning the Women's European Championship twice with England.
The pair were brought back together for Sky Sports ' Minus 1 show, which saw Toone, 27, show Hodgkinson, 24, around United's Carrington training complex. Beginning in the canteen, Toone explained how she stocked up on carbohydrates ahead of a game.
When she enquired about Hodgkinson's eating habits, the runner responded: "I eat out probably every day." Given her need to carefully track her nutritional intake, that admission comes as something of a surprise.
The tour continued to the treatment room, where the duo discussed their careers while having massages. Hodgkinson, who confessed she detests having her feet massaged, emphasised how their professions extend beyond simply running and kicking a ball.
She said: "I think what people don't realise about being a professional athlete in any sport is that it's not just that sport.

"You don't just go and play football and go and run. It's the gym, the stretching, the mobilising, the physio. They think it's relaxing sat here, but it's not that relaxing."
In a previous interview with Sky Sports' Kelly Cates, Hodgkinson disclosed just how much social media remarks questioning her dedication wind her up. Beyond the track, Hodgkinson enjoys spending time with mates and pursuing her other major interest of fashion.
She chronicles her activities on Instagram, where she boasts more than 700,000 followers, and YouTube. While her posts are warmly received by the majority of her followers, some unfairly cast doubt on her commitment.

She said: "I get a lot of comments about that, which really irritates me. I'm like, 'If only you'd known what I'd done today [in training]!' The perception of an athlete [constantly training], that is not sustainable. Me and my friends love to mess about.
"When I'm on a training camp, there's still a lot of time to kill. I started my YouTube channel a year ago to bring people on the journey about what it's really like to be a professional athlete."
Following a busy 2026 season, Hodgkinson will balance rest with preparation over the winter months before a significant 2027, which will include the World Championships in Beijing.
