Liam Scales insists Celtic are still capable of winning games in Europe despite another damaging night in the Europa League.
Celtic had led early in the second half through Mika Baur, but Javi Rodriguez struck twice to turn the match around for the La Liga side.
All the upcoming Celtic fixtures are on our fixtures page.
It was another frustrating European defeat for Celtic, who also lost to Ferencvaros and Benfica after dropping out of the Champions League qualifiers earlier in the campaign.
Scales, though, pushed back on the idea that Celtic are not capable of getting results at this level.
Speaking to BBC Sport Scotland, he was asked whether there was a concern that Celtic are not at the level required to win in Europe just now.
Scales said: “I think we can win games in Europe, we’ve shown before we can.
“There’s really good sides and we’ve had a tough opening few games, but we know we can be better and we know we can improve.
“And if there’s room for improvement, that’s enough for us to go and win games, definitely.”
That is the message Celtic will have to cling to, because the table makes grim reading.
Three games, three defeats, and second bottom of the league phase is not where Celtic expected to be.
Scales himself came close to making it 2-0 against Celta, hitting the bar from a corner before the visitors turned the match around.
That was the kind of moment Celtic needed to take.
Scales is right that Celtic can be better. The problem is they are running out of European games to prove it.
