NFL trade rumors: Steelers linked to Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson

A well-respected NFL insider has linked a former first-rounder as a potential wide receiver trade target for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Steelers are a team to watch at the November 10 trade deadline. He reported that Pittsburgh could look to add a wide receiver and linked Garrett Wilson of the New York Jets as a potential target.

“I'd keep an eye on the Pittsburgh Steelers," La Canfora said via Blitzburgh. I'm told they're being pretty ambitious behind the scenes and would love to add another playmaker. They're sitting at 5-2 and flying a little under the radar right now. DK Metcalf has some limitations in terms of the route tree he runs, but if you were to add someone like Garrett Wilson to that offense, it starts to get really interesting. With the tight ends they have, a running back like Jaylen Warren who can catch a lot of passes, and Metcalf stretching the field on go routes, adding a receiver like Wilson would give them another dynamic dimension. That could be a very intriguing offense.”

Wilson, drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has recorded 4,171 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns during his first five years with New York.

It's worth noting that Wilson just signed a four-year extension with the Jets back in July 2025. But that shouldn't completely rule out a potential trade to Pittsburgh, as the Jets also signed Sauce Gardner to a four-year deal before trading him just four months later to the Indianapolis Colts in November 2025.

Still, acquiring Wilson would likely be an expensive ask and would require a premium draft pick, such as a 2027 or 2028 first-rounder, which the Steelers may be hesitant to hand out with their team possibly one or two years away from a potential rebuild.
