Akbar Abdullaev is finally scheduled to make his full UFC debut this coming December, when he makes an appearance at UFC Saudi Arabia.
This past September, Akbar Abdullaev earned a UFC contract when he scored a sensational knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series, knocking out Ednilson Santos in just 19 seconds.
After scoring the knockout, Dana White labeled Abdullaev as the ‘greatest talent ever on DWCS’, immediately building anticipation and marketing him as a future star.
And after months of attempting to find the undefeated 29-year-old a fight, the promotion has finally found him a fight, and he will make his full debut at UFC Saudi Arabia.
This past Tuesday night, AG fight reported that Abdullaev will take on featherweight contender, Mairon Santos, who is currently on a four-fight win streak in the premier promotion. At this moment, it is unclear what weight the fight will be at considering the fact that Santos has fought at both lightweight and featherweight, with his last fight being a catchweight bout. Throughout his career in ONE Championship, Abdullaev also competed at both lightweight and featherweight.
Fans have been chomping at the bit for Abdullaev to step into the UFC Octagon after his DWCS win after what White said about him. “Akbar, I mean, I don’t even know what to say to you that punch sounded like a baseball bat. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and I’m gonna call you possibly the greatest talent that’s ever been on this show in 10 years, I think that you are going to be a huge superstar and a very big threat in this sport, I can’t wait to see you fight again, welcome to the UFC,” White said.
Although White labeled him as the greatest talent ever, several fighters including Sean O’Malley, Carlos Ulberg and Jamahal Hill have gone on to win UFC titles following their appearances on DWCS, meaning Abdullaev has a lot to live up to.

In AG fight’s report of the fight being booked, ‘UFC Vegas’ was put on their poster. There have been rumors surrounding the UFC Saudi Arabia event in December and whether the promotion will move it to Vegas due to the conflict currently going on in the Middle East. Despite that, it is believed that the current plan is for the event to go ahead in Saudi Arabia.
As of this moment, the UFC Saudi Arabia main event has not been announced, however, it is believed that Israel Adesanya will headline the card against Shara Magomedov. So far, including the clash between Abdullaev and Santos, eight fights have been confirmed for the UFC’s return to Saudi Arabia.
