PSG are equipped with enough players in attack to survive the absence of  Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, says Luis Enrique.

PSG are preparing to take on Lyon in an interesting Monday night game in Ligue 1, but in his press conference previewing the game there were more questions about the injuries his team picked up in the Champions League game against Barcelona on Tuesday than there were about the game ahead.

PSG prepared for season without key attacker claims coach

Luis Enrique’s press conference.

Luis Enrique was of course asked if his team would consider making new signings, especially in attack where they’ve lost Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the season. He insisted that wasn’t on his agenda:

“No injury justifies signing new players. I already said at the start of the season that we could manage two or three significant injuries that lead to absences,” the Spanish coach said.

“But it’s clear that we remain attentive to every possibility of recruiting a new player if we think we really need one. We always have this responsibility to be attentive to opportunities during the transfer window. But not to compensate for an injury.”

Ferran Torres will now be a fixture in the starting team, with Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts also expected to soak up some extra minutes.

In other news…

The PSG Barcelona game earlier this week broke TV records for a Champions League game in this phase.

Despite his injury, PSG want to secure Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to a new contract sooner rather than later.

Desire Doue has received a first verbal offer from PSG over a new contract, and could sign his new deal before too long.
