The Chicago Bears were ignited by the return of former USC Trojan Caleb Williams and teammate Kyler Gordon. Both players did not miss a beat and put together dominant performances. As a result, the Bears' offense and defense both looked good enough to make a run at the Super Bowl.
Here is what we learned about the Bears in NFL Week 6:
One of the biggest weaknesses of Caleb Williams' game is his accuracy and his ability to play on time. Against the Atlanta Falcons, those weaknesses looked like strengths. Caleb started the game off 24/24, not missing a beat. He finished the game with an 83.3% completion percentage. That proves Caleb Williams is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Right now, he leads the NFL with a 72.5% completion percentage. His development in year 3 has been exciting to watch and scary for the rest of the NFL to see.
Without Kyle Monangai, the Bears' run game has taken a big hit. He is the physical back that this offense needs. Without him, D'Andre Swift is a lot easier to limit. In his last game, Monangai had 30 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown. Through just 4 games, he has 324 yards and 3 touchdowns. In his absence, his true value to the offense has been on full display.
Coltson Loveland was disappointing at the start of the season. Last week, however, the return of starting quarterback Caleb Williams helped him get his confidence back. Loveland had a spectacular touchdown catch on the opening drive, and he finished with 6 catches for 65 yards. The Bears offense is at its best when Loveland is making plays. It looks like the Bears' biggest playmaker is back.
In only 16 snaps, Kyler Gordon showed he can make a massive impact. He tallied 3 sacks and a tackle for a loss on his first snap of the season. Dennis Allen is able to get extremely creative when Kyler Gordon is on the field. Gordon could be the key to the Bears' defense going from good to great.
The NFC conference is wide open and up for grabs. The San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings are both undefeated, but both teams have weaknesses the Bears can exploit. When this Bears team is healthy and with the return of Kyle Monangai on offense, the Bears can beat anyone in the league.
