Two goals early doors

Town went behind just four minutes into the game. A corner was not defended well by the Tractor Girls as Hughes at the near post was able to direct her header into the far corner of the goal.

Timms levelled things in the 11th minute with a great finish into the far corner. She was played through by Jenna Dear and showed strength to shrug off her marker and finish brilliantly past the keeper.

The game was level after this, with Town having more of the chances. In the 44th minute Aimee Palmer struck the post with a header from a corner.

An even first half came to an end with Town able to cancel out Sunderland's early opener.

Sunderland down to 10

Just three minutes into the second half, Tess Laplacette was shown a red card for pulling down Timms who was beating her for pace, bearing down on goal. The referee deemed it to be a denial of a goal scoring opportunity and didn't hesistate to send her off.

It took Town just eight more minutes to take the lead. Ademiluyi did what she has done so many times for Town so far this season, picking up the ball and running at defenders, who didn't know how to deal with her.

She drove forward and turned the defence inside and out before firing with her right high and into the back of the net.

In the 67th minute, Ademiluyi got her second of the game with a brilliant finish.

Maria Boswell played a delightful ball over the top of the Sunderland defence and Ademiluyi, on the volley, chipped it over the keeper to extend Town's lead.

Up to 2nd

This impressive result sees Town move up to 2nd in the league, just two points off league leaders Newcastle United.

Town will next face Watford in the Subway Players Cup before returning to league action at home against Bristol City on November 8.
