Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko has been linked with a sensational return to British football after spending more than a season without a club.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea in 2017 after the Blues looked to strengthen their side following Premier League glory, however his addition did not pan out as many had planned.
Many believe the Frenchman’s performance against Watford away from home is arguably the worst in the club’s history. He endured a nightmare display both in and out of possession before being sent off in the first half.
Bakayoko left PAOK in July 2025 and has been without a club since then, however has actually been training with Celtic during the international break.
As per Anthony Joseph, the midfielder is now being considered to join the Scottish champions on a free transfer.
He said: “Celtic have been running the rule over former Chelsea and AC Milan defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko during the international break. It’s understood the 32-year-old has been training with the Scottish champions over the last couple of weeks. The France international has been without a club since July 2025, after leaving PAOK.”
Bakayoko would only play 43 games in his Chelsea career in all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting another three.
However, he would firmly fall into the category of player who was at the club at the time who saw their performance levels look better on paper because they were playing alongside N’golo Kante.
A transfer window that saw both Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater in as new midfielders was the catalyst for the Blues dropping away from the Premier League title race to a point where they haven’t really returned yet.
Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership after seven games, although look set for a fierce race for the title with Old Firm rivals, Rangers, this season.
