St Mirren 1-1 Hibs: Marink Reedijk secures first point as Hibernian boss to move them off the foot of the table

Hibernian moved off the foot of the Scottish Premiership table as they drew 1-1 at St Mirren to earn Marink Reedijk his first point as manager.

Marko Ivezic's second-goal put Hibs ahead in Paisley but it was cancelled out by Jason Kerr's own goal.

The draw was enough for Reedijk to finally get off the mark at the fourth attempt.

It was a scrappy match of few chances until late on when both sides had chances to earn the victory but could not take them, with Hibernian goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger doing well to deny StMirren's Jake Young.

Both teams made one change to their starting line-up. Chris Mochrie replaced Ismeal Kabia for Saints, with Nicky Cadden deputising for Thibault Klidje in the visitors' line-up for his first start of the season.

Mochrie was involved early on with an inviting cross from the left but Luke Thomas slipped before he could get his shot away.

It was a scrappy first half with few chances for either side. Mochrie became the first player yellow carded for bringing down Kerr, with Mulligan following him into the book just minutes later.

A wayward clearance from St Mirrengoalkeeper Jacob Chapman almostproved costly at the start of the second half. Joe Newell attempted a first-time shot from around 30 yards out and it drifted only narrowly wide of the target.

Henry Fieldson then did well to deflect Owen Elding's header over from his own crossbar before Alex Gogic became the next player booked for bringing down Elding.

Elding then had a great chance to break the deadlock when a corner was headed out to him at the edge of the box only to blast his effort over the crossbar.

St Mirren boss Craig McLeish tried to give his side a lift by bringing on Young and Samuel Ramos for Eseosa Sule and Mochrie respectively.

But it was Hibs who forged in front after 77 minutes. Cadden's corner from the left was not dealt with and Ivezic pounced to force home the loose ball.

St Mirren should have equalised just a few minutes later. Young did well to make space for himself on the left before squaring for Ramos who could not finish from right in front of goal.

The home side, though, did draw level seven minutes from time. Killian Phillips' corner fell kindly for Paul Nsio and he appeared to convert from close range at the second attempt, though the goal went down as a Kerr own goal.

Saint could have then won it late on but Calvin Ramsay could not steer Phillips' cross on target before Sallinger saved well from Young.
