Pedro Porro is seriously considering an exit from Tottenham Hotspur amid interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old signed a new long-term contract until 2031 with the Lilywhites in the summer, before going on to win this summer’s World Cup with Spain under Luis De La Fuente. Since returning to the club, the right-back has endured a stop-start campaign. He has missed the last couple of games with a hamstring injury but is now fit and ready to return to action.
However, it has now emerged that Pedro Porro could be looking for a way out in the near future. Recent reports suggest the Spanish international would ‘seriously consider’ a move away from Spurs should Real Madrid or Barcelona firm up their interest in his services next year. He is very much open to returning to his homeland to play for one of the two Spanish giants, and would prefer to be operating at the very highest level at this stage of his career.
Porro has seemingly lost faith in Roberto De Zerbi’s project in N17, despite putting to paper on fresh terms a few months ago.
According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Tottenham are relaxed about the situation after securing the Spanish international on a new long-term contract. They are determined to keep Pedro Porro despite growing interest from the La Liga duo and are prepared to demand a substantial fee if they have to consider his departure.
The North Londoners are unlikely to entertain a potential exit during the winter transfer window. De Zerbi is understood to be counting on Porro moving forward and views him as a key part of his project at the club.
The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading right-backs in the last few years. His ability to create chances, make incisive passes, deliver dangerous crosses and contribute in the final third has made him an influential figure in Tottenham’s squad. Losing him would be a massive blow for the North Londoners, particularly as De Zerbi looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.
Nonetheless, retaining Porro’s services could prove challenging if Real Madrid or Barcelona decide to formalise their interest. The prospect of competing and winning major trophies could influence the full-back’s decision.
