Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on his squad's fitness ahead of Nottingham Forest:

"Piero [Hincapie] is involving really well and knowing his character and the way he pushes everybody, I'm sure he's not going to take long I think, but he will probably need another week or two."

On Martin Zubimendi's fitness: "Zubi looks much better, he already looked much better today. We have another session tomorrow and after that we will assess whether he is ready for Forest."

On Christos Tzolis' fitness: "Doing really well. Yesterday he had another MRI scan to see how the injury is evolving. He's progressing really well. Another one we can hopefully have back in a few weeks."

On William Saliba's progress: "Next week we have another MRI with him to see how the healing process is at the moment but every sign so far has been very, very positive. It will be great to have him."

Leeds United

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has said Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has done excellently this season and does not understand the criticism he has faced.

"When I think about Michael and young coaches, he’s done excellently," said Farke.

"He did brilliant at Middlesbrough. After six games, he did not do awfully [at United this season]. They are mid-table or so. Obviously by their perception they want to be going for a title.

"You don’t need to go for him as a young coach. What he’s done as a coach and as a player, he’s done a tremendous job.

"I don’t think we’re heading in the right direction [criticising Carrick], it won’t help in the right direction. I don’t like it, I don’t understand it.

"We need to protect young British coaches, even though I am German I feel half British. I think we should back [them] and be happy at someone with so much potential."

More from Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, who has said that Lisandro Martinez will be in the squad for Sunday's match at Leeds:

"From the outside [you are] after some big information about big discussions but it was pretty simple. We all understood the situation and what it meant. He made his statement and acknowledges that it was a mistake from him and that was it really.

"We have a really good feeling from within the group. We have a really good feeling within the club from the inside.

"Results-wise it hasn't gone to plan of late but the spirit, the togetherness, again I said it but today was one of the better training sessions that we have had and you can see there's a real sense and a feeling within the group that we want to do something about this situation and want to do something about it quickly.

"We understand the situation that came up after the game but we feel that has been dealt with and we have moved on.

"Genuinely moved on and there's a freshness about the group today which I really liked."

When Brighton lost at home to Crystal Palace in February, Fabian Hurzeler was booed by his own supporters and subjected to chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning".

"There are only two options," said the German after the 1-0 defeat by their fierce rivals left his team floundering 14th in the table with one win in 12 Premier League matches.

"Give up or keep pushing harder, and that's always the option I choose in my life."

Eight months on, Brighton are reaping the benefits of keeping faith with the man who became the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history when he was appointed in June 2024 at the age of 31.

Palace return to Amex Stadium on Sunday (14:00 BST kick-off) to face opponents who are third in the table after statement wins over defending champions Arsenal and Europa League winners Aston Villa.

Hurzeler's stock has rocketed after 11 wins in 18 top-flight games, a run that has propelled the Seagulls back into Europe and left fans - who shouted "you don't know what you're doing" at him just a few months ago - worried that he could be lured away.

Following last Saturday's win at Sunderland, there was chat on the post-match phone-ins that Hurzeler, rewarded with a new long-term contract before the end of last season and given £150m to spend on signings in the summer, could be a prime target for a big club looking for a manager.

"You learn more about yourself and the people around you when you are losing games," former Brighton striker Glenn Murray told BBC Sport in reference to last season's poor run.

"Hurzeler has come out the other side and the way he has got this group of players performing is exceptional."

Glad you could join us on a busy day of Premier League news conferences.

We are kicking off today with Fulham's Alvaro Arbeloa and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler.

The two managers have enjoyed contrasting fortunes at the start of this season.

Fulham are rock bottom of the Premier League, with Arbeloa still searching for his first league win since taking over from Marco Silva in the summer and doubts already emerging about his position - more on those reports in a moment.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls are soaring at home and in Europe under Hurzeler - third in the Premier League, into the last 16 of the League Cup and top of the Conference League table.

We will hear from Arbeloa first, and then Hurzeler.
