Talk Of New York delivered a commanding performance at Ascot, stepping up to elite level with an impressive victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Charlie Appleby's Wootton Bassett colt has shown steady progression throughout the season, hinting at his ability when finishing third behind the now-retired Bow Echo and Gstaad in the St James's Palace Stakes during Royal Ascot.

Following a dazzling display in the Joel Stakes late last month, connections felt compelled to supplement the horse for this Group One contest, and William Buick delivered a masterfully confident ride, biding his time before launching his challenge in the final quarter-mile.

Seizing the lead with a furlong remaining, Talk Of New York at 3-1 powered home strongly to defeat Queen Anne victor Ten Bob Tony by a length and a quarter, while French 2000 Guineas champion Rayif rallied from the back to claim third.
