It's been a solid start to the season for Caoimhin Kelleher and his teammates at Brentford, with the club sitting in the top half of the table after a decent string of results. The club have won or drawn four of their last five games - but ahead of last weekend's win against Nottingham Forest, Kelleher shared a heartwarming reunion with a familiar figure from his childhood.
Before he became a big Premier League star, Kelleher grew up in Mahon, where he attended Gaelscoil Mhachan. On Saturday, Kelleher treated one of his former teachers, Ger Murphy, to a special behind-the-scenes experience and walked out onto the pitch with his son, Jack, as the accompanying mascot.
You can take a look at the behind-the-scenes interactions in a mini-matchday documentary shared by the club below:
The little lad was beaming from ear to ear throughout the experience, sporting an exact match for Kelleher's jersey, which was covered in signatures from his Brentford teammates. It's a keepsake to remember what will no doubt be a childhood highlight for the youngster, and in a brief interview, Ger spoke very admirably about what a positive influence Kelleher has become.
He said: "Caoimhín is such a fantastic role model for children [who] are involved in sport. He's fantastic for the pupils back in his old school, and a fantastic role model for Jack."
After this heartwarming reunion, it was back to business for Kelleher, and by full-time he had plenty to celebrate. The Ireland international kept a clean sheet against Forest and helped his team secure a convincing 2-0 victory.
