Looking at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday, in this latest round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
This seventh round of Premier League fixtures.
Five Premier League matches today.
Four of them before Newcastle United take on Aston Villa at 5.30pm.
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is most likely in terms of results.
The first of those four matches has already been played.
A feisty encounter with seven yellow cards and Chelsea ending up winning 2-0 at Everton in the 12.30pm kick-off.
My conclusions and predictions on the Saturday matches now coming up:
Brentford v Liverpool (3pm)
The Bees are unbeaten in all eight matches this season, four wins and four draws.
Liverpool have been poor and whilst they can still be flat track bullies against weak teams in Europe (6-3 v Lask in midweek), Brentford a different proposition.
They are above Liverpool in the league for a reason and I think they will at least draw, probably a win for Brentford.
Fulham v Hull (3pm)
This is so bizarre with the bookies having Fulham odds on to win this.
Fulham have been terrible, only two points from six games and bottom of the table, Hull seven points clear of them and only losing to Newcastle United in the Premier League.
I really fancy Hull to win this.
Man City v Ipswich (3pm)
Ipswich have made a great start and got wins against three of the weak Premier League sides, defeating Sunderland, Palace and Fulham.
Manchester City have won eight of their nine matches in all competitions and the one they lost was a 4-2 thriller against PSG that could have ended up with any final scoreline, so open it was as a game.
Ipswich aren’t PSG and Manchester City win here.
Newcastle United v Aston Villa (5.30pm)
The only really important match today.
Monday night’s defeat was pretty much self-inflicted with United incapable of finishing so many clear chances and then defensive errors gifting key goals.
Aston Villa have only won one of six Premier League games and that was against hapless Tottenham.
A lot of doom and gloom about but Newcastle United have a good home record and in their last six (all competitions) at St James’ Park in all competitions they have scored at least two goals in each of them and scored 15 in total.
If NUFC score at least two today and tighten it up a bit at the back, I think Matthias Jaissle’s team win.
