Michael Stewart has delivered his thoughts on whether or not Kevin Kelsy’s goal should have been disallowed in the Rangers vs Kilmarnock game.
Kelsy scored the second for Rangers en route to a 3-1 victory at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
That result sent the Gers to the top of the table for a day, but Celtic reclaimed first following a win on Sunday.
Michael Stewart examined the footage of Kelsy’s goal amid the controversy about allowing the strike to stand. In what would come as a surprise to most Gers fans, he stated that there was not enough to disallow the goal.
"The probability is that is has [hit his hand]" 🖐️

While receiving the cross, the Venezuela forward tripped and there might have been minimal contact with his arm as he hit the floor. However, there was no camera angle, even in the footage shown above, that suggests that there was definite contact.
For Stewart, unless the officials are 100 per cent sure that there has been contact made with his hand, they cannot disallow the goal. So, despite all the controversy surrounding the goal being given, in his mind, that is the right decision.
He told Premier Sports: “For it to be disallowed, you’ve got to definitely know. Unfortunately, for Kilmarnock, I’m not sure if you can say 100 per cent. If you were a betting man, the probability is that it has [hit his hand] but I’m not sure he can intervene there.”
