‘I’m Drafting One of Those QBs’ — NFL Analyst Pushes Chargers To Consider Trading Justin Herbert

The biggest surprise of the 2026 season is the Los Angeles Chargers, and it’s far from a good surprise. The Chargers are 0-6, and the offense, which was hyped to be one of the most exciting offenses, is terrible. Justin Herbert is playing the worst football of his NFL career, and NFL analyst Chris Broussard believes the Chargers should consider resetting at that position with their likely high draft pick.

Chris Broussard Pushes Chargers to Get Rid of Justin Herbert and Draft a New Quarterback

The Chargers have a lot to figure out right now. Mike McDaniel and Jim Harbaugh are catching plenty of heat for their failures, and their jobs are seemingly hanging on by a thread. They have a bye to figure it out, or else someone will lose their job if they suffer a Week 8 loss to a hungry Los Angeles Rams team.

Herbert is getting blamed for his struggles, too, but the entire offense is a disaster. The Chargers star has shown he can be successful, though, even with limited resources, especially on the offensive line, but that’s not the case this season.

Since Herbert isn’t getting it done and the Chargers will very likely pick toward the top of the NFL Draft, Broussard urged the Chargers to consider trading Herbert and picking a new quarterback.

“If I’m the Chargers, and this season we win two games, three games, whatever it is, four games, and we get a top pick, if I’m in love with one or two of these quarterbacks in the draft, which looks like a pretty good draft, I’m drafting one of those quarterbacks and trading Justin. I think you still can get a lot for him,”said Broussard.

The Chargers will have to decide on their future with Herbert if they pick high in the draft, which seems to be the case.

Their struggles have no end in sight, with a relatively tough schedule. Herbert is dead last at 34th in PFN’s QB Impact Rankings with an impact score of 61.0. He’s made uncharacteristic mistakes and looks uncomfortable in the pocket.

The offensive line has always been a problem for the Chargers, and once again, it’s not pretty. The unit ranks 32nd in the NFL in PFN’s Team OL Impact Rankings.

Losing star tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater has hurt Herbert and given him some leeway in his performance, but he has to be better, or he could even be shown the door by Los Angeles.
