Further tributes paid to Wrexham's Graham 'Ozzie' Jones

Earlier this week, The Leader reported on the death of Graham 'Ozzie' Jones, aged 77.

He was a well-respected figure in Wrexham, particular among the football clubs there and beyond.

The central defender's career even saw him go on to play three times for Wrexham AFC's first team in the English Football League in the 1960's.

Mr Jones was also manager at Chirk for a season in 1988/89, when the club won the WNL Premier Division Cup.

But, it was at Lex FC that his heart belonged, and where he spent the most of his footballing days.

Following the news of his death, many of you have been getting in touch to pay tribute to Mr Jones.

Former Wrexham AFC player Gareth Owen said: "You will be sorely missed Ozzie. A true stalwart of the club. Sleep easy mate."

Terry Roberts added: "Had the pleasure of playing with him at Shotton Westminster and we both went to Burnley for trials but neither of us got taken on, so sad to hear of his passing."

Rhys Hopwood said: "Very sad news. I remember sitting and chatting to Ozzie on the coach to an away game at Fleetwood in 2012. He was a regular in the Director Box at home games. RIP."

Terry Hughes said: "What a lovely lad. He loved his football, Wrexham FC, Lex and his golf. I was lucky to play with him in France."

Sue Parbery added: "My mum and dad loved their cuppa and a chat with Oz. He was a lovely neighbour to them."

Andrew Williams told us: "RIP Graham, lovely man. I got to know him from a young lad when he used to work for Pearl insurance."

Steven Prince said: "Great bloke, we had many laughs together."
