Ryan Garcia continues to call for a rematch against Gervonta Davis, believing a catchweight hampered his performance on the night.

The pair meet at a catchweight of 136lbs back in 2023, and Garcia was only permitted to put on 10lbs by the morning of the fight.

In front of a sold out Las Vegas crowd, ‘Tank’ Davis scored knockdowns in the second and seventh, finishing the fight with the latter as Garcia failed to get up from a body shot.

Since then, the American superstars have been on vastly different trajectories. Garcia has now settled at welterweight, where he won the WBC world title earlier this year and defended it with a second round stoppage against Conor Benn.

Davis has fought just twice, beating Frank Martin in 2024 and drawing with Lamont Roach Jr in 2025. Legal trouble outside of the ring then saw an exhibition match with Jake Paul cancelled, and he is yet to book a return, though it seems to be edging closer.

Despite the inactive on ‘Tank’s side and Garcia’s stellar 2026, four-weight world champion Adrien Broner recently told Garcia that he still believes Davis ‘smokes him’.

Garcia recently revealed that the teams have connected behind the scenes to discuss a rematch, but his insistence on making it happy at 147lbs is likely to be a major obstacle.

Davis has fought twice at 140lbs, and would be considerably undersized at welterweight.

The fighters have plenty of other options, with ‘King Ry’ now reportedly in negotiations for a unification bout against Teofimo Lopez, and former lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr the most recent name linked with Davis.
