Colorado continues to slide in USA TODAY Sports' college football power rankings after a fourth straight loss.
Colorado is coming off a game where it showed its most fight all season, but still fell 27-24 to No. 11 Utah in its fourth straight loss. They still have plenty to clean up, including penalties and an anemic offense that managed under 75 yards in the first half.
In USA TODAY Sports' 1-138 re-ranking of every FBS program, the Buffaloes fell five spots to No. 86 nationally. Colorado, however, is no longer the lowest-ranked Big 12 team, as Kansas fell 10 spots to No. 88 and holds that honor entering Week 8.
The drop shouldn't surprise anyone, as the Buffs keep leaking oil despite a better all-around performance against the Utes. For at least one more week, the schedule does not get any easier, with a solid Oklahoma State team awaiting the Buffs in Stillwater. A win over the Cowboys would significantly improve the Buffaloes' standing in FBS. OSU lands at No. 31 in the updated rankings.
A few other Power Four programs surround Colorado in the rankings, including Arkansas (No. 85), Syracuse (No. 84), Georgia Tech (No. 87) and Michigan State (No. 91).
The Big 12 is well represented at the top of the rankings: BYU at No. 3 after moving up 10 spots this week, Utah at No. 10, Texas Tech at No. 11 and Houston at No. 14.
The top 10 flipped completely, with multiple top-ranked teams losing. Ohio State takes over the top spot, followed by Miami, BYU, Georgia, Notre Dame and Indiana. Tennessee moves up eight spots to No. 8, and UCLA holds its spot at No. 9.
