The Minnesota Vikings are 6-1 through eight weeks and sit atop the NFC North. The division is highly competitive, with every team having a winning record, so the Purple and Gold will need to fight hard every week to stay on top.
Tuesday is the NFL trade deadline, but the Vikings haven't made a trade. There are several big-name targets that Minnesota could pursue, but for now, general manager Nolan Teasley has not executed any deals.
The clock is ticking for Minnesota to get a deal done to improve its roster before the trade deadline passes. Making a trade would signal to the league that the franchise expects to be a serious contender this season and anticipates a playoff berth.
On Thursday, Vikings superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson spoke to the press, and his comments about the team being "very, very special" were shared by The Athletic's Alec Lewis on X. His word choices were perfect.
Vikings Justin Jefferson: "I feel like the potential and the guys that we have in that room is something very, very special. I feel like we're wasting that by not going out and executing the plays that we have called."

Jefferson looked at the team's struggles this season and put the responsibility on himself and his teammates to execute better. Of course, the words "potential" and "wasting" were interesting in that quote.
Vikings general manager Nolan Teasley needs to hear those words as a call to action. If the team and its star player are ready to rally around the franchise, he needs to do everything he can to help the team become winners.
That said, making a trade for a player at a position of need would go a long way toward Teasley proving he believes in this team and sees success in its future. Adding a piece to the mix to help make that happen could be the spark the team needs to continue strong throughout the season.
If there was a time for the Vikings to push their chips in the middle of the table, this is the time to do it. Minnesota's defense is incredible; the team is winning games, and the NFC feels wide open for any contender to step up and take it.
Hopefully, Teasley is listening to his players and is willing to do what he can to help the Vikings this season. This team feels special, but something is missing to make it exceptional. Perhaps trading for the right player can make this team a legitimate threat this season.
