Who will win Trabzonspor vs Hearts? Our writers make their predictions as Mo Salah lies in wait in Conference League corker

The Jambos are in Turkey and face a daunting task as they look to earn their first victory at the second attempt in UEFA's third tier competition

It might be UEFA's third tier competition but there is nothing third rate about Hearts' opponents.

And one man the Jambos will be facing is certainly elite when it comes to talent - Liverpool legend Mo Salah.

The Egyptian King made the switch to the Super Lig side after leaving Anfield in the summer following nine trophy-laden years on Merseyside.

Hearts would have been hoping for a more gentle fixture after a 7-1 hammering at the hands of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on Sunday.

But, on paper at least, this is daunting against a side who were in action on Monday, with Salah on target in a 2-0 win over Besiktas.

Can the Jambos bounce back and stun Salah and Co? Here, the Record Sport writers deliver their big match predictions:

Scott Burns

It is a big ask for Hearts. Their confidence will have taken a hit after Sunday. It is hard to see them taking anything against Mo Salah and Co. They just need to keep things tight for as long as they can. If they were to pick anything up from this it would be a bonus.

Hearts' devastating defeat at Parkhead will have put a huge dent in their confidence ahead of a tough trip to Turkey. The Jambos are fragile defensively and if Wouter Vrancken continues with his attacking style against Trabzonspor it could be another long night for their supporters.

Mohamed Salah of Trabzonspor in action

Star man Mo Salah is in terrific form for a side that has won its last four on the spin, including a 2-0 victory over Besiktas at the weekend. Hearts supporters might want to watch this from behind the sofa.

Keith Jackson

This feels like a hiding to nothing for Hearts and a trip they could do without after the trauma they experienced at Celtic Park on Sunday. If they can take a point from the Turks they'll be delighted. But, with Mo Salah in the firing line, that's a very big long shot.

Hearts were ragdolled at Parkhead on Sunday and I fear another mauling could be on the cards in Turkey. The Jambos tried to go toe-to-toe with the champions on their own patch but it backfired spectacularly. Wouter Vrancken must take a more streetwise approach against Mo Salah's Trabzonspor, who warmed up for the clash by thumping Besiktas 2-0 at the weekend. But I can't shake the feeling that another brutal night could lie ahead for the Gorgie side.Trabzonspor 4 Hearts 0

Mark Pirie

After the hammering at Celtic Park, the games don't get any easier for Hearts. Mo Salah and Co will be looking to expose the Jam Tarts defensive frailties just like Benfica and Celtic have already this season.

For Wouter Vrancken it's about rebuilding the confidence of his players - and keeping the score down. That will be easier said than done against the Turkish title hopefuls.

Trabzonspor 4 Hearts 0

Ross Pilcher

The Jambos will have spent the last few days licking their wounds. They took an extremely sore one at Celtic Park, and while another game soon after to try and get it out of the system is welcome, away to Trabzonspor and Mo Salah isn't the one they would have picked. Don't expect Wouter Vrancken to abandon his style, although it may be toned down a bit.
