Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is still chasing the top spot in the NFC East but some of his previous comments to one Fox Sports reporter have resurfaced on a recent podcast appearance.
The $60m-a-year QB is trailing the New York Giants in the bid to clinch the top spot of the NFC East through the opening seven weeks of the NFL season. This weekend will provide the Cowboys with an opportunity to get another win on the board against a struggling Arizona Cardinals.
Prescott’s private life was thrown into the spotlight during the offseason after his wedding was called off just weeks before the planned date. And some of the quarterback’s joking comments to Fox reporter Erin Andrews have now been shared.
The Cowboys are no strangers to playing on the holidays and Andrews was involved in their 2022 Christmas Eve game against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, her outfit did not go down so well with Prescott after the game.
“Oh, and I’ve had players call me out, like literally call me out. They’ll be like, ‘Oh, really? Wow. What, what are you doing?’ I was working a Dallas Cowboys Christmas Eve game years ago, and I had a fabulous, like, Christmas green suit, and the Cowboys won. And Dak was like, ‘What are we doing?’ And I was like, ‘I swear to God, this is all about Christmas.’ Like, he goes, ‘You couldn’t wear red?’ And I was like, ‘I wore red for Thanksgiving.’ Like, come on,” said Andrews on her Calm Down podcast.
It is no surprise that Prescott called Andrews out for wearing green considering the Cowboys were playing their biggest rivals, the Eagles. The colour is synonymous with the Birds, which may have been a slightly misjudged decision from Andrews.
Andrews may have had an excuse to wear green given it was Christmas Eve, but this is a decision that she is unlikely to make again when covering a Cowboys game.
