Neil Lennon says there's 'more to come' from Dunfermline

The Pars claimed a second victory in three days on Tuesday night, at Stenhousemuir, after ending a run of three successive draws at Queen's Park on Saturday.

They've moved into fourth place, and the promotion play-off places, behind Fife derby rivals, Raith Rovers, on goal difference.

Athletic are also only two behind the second top Warriors, and four adrift of leaders Partick Thistle, having suffered only one defeat in their opening 12 games.

Lennon, though, is confident that his team have more to give, especially when more of his squad members that haven't featured regularly gain more fitness.

"It's good, yeah. We're pleased," he said of his side closing the gap to top spot.

"There's more to come, I think.

"We need to get Olly Thomas up to speed, and a few of the boys who haven't, played, like (Chris) Kane and Oli Shaw. They're still to come and they're bubbling under nicely.

"Freddie Turley hopefully will be fit soon as well, which will augment the squad, because we're asking a lot of the starting eleven at the minute.

"But, they're playing so well, it's difficult to change it.

"We want to entertain, we want to attack. We have a young team who are going to be inconsistent at times. They're not perfect, but they're playing.

"I can't ask any more at the minute. I'm just so enamoured with them and thrilled with that. What I saw tonight was brilliant."

Lennon, meanwhile, is hoping that the substitution of Josh Cooper on Tuesday was a precautionary measure - but doesn't anticipate him being involved against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.

The 23-year-old, who has netted six goals so far this season, was taken off before half-time at Ochilview with a hamstring issue.

"He had a bit of fatigue in it a couple of weeks ago. He didn't start the (Partick) Thistle game (last midweek)," Lennon noted.

"He was a bit wary of it, and then he felt alright after Thistle. Then, obviously, he had a good hour on Saturday.

"We were trying to nurse him through it - well, not nurse him through it, but be careful - but he just felt something again just before half-time.

"He's playing ever so well, but hopefully it's not too serious. It looks like a strain, and I would be amazed if he makes Saturday.

"You can't take risks with that."
