Stands were immediately evacuated as the players were rushed into the changing rooms after the referee halted the match.

The shock collapse at Alfheim happened at 3.12pm – with the score tied at 0-0 in the Northern Norway derby.

The section of the stands where Bodø/Glimt supporters stood behind one goal suddenly gave way.

As many as five people fell through and one was taken to hospital, Glimt’s spokesperson Simen Pedersen told local media outlet VG.

Pedersen reportedly confirmed the fan taken to hospital was conscious.

Police will reportedly investigate the incident which happened in the stand where around 600 away fans were sectioned.

The match restarted at 4pm at the 43rd minute and Ola Brynhildsen immediately put Bodø/Glimt up 1–0.

The two sides were meeting in a game in Norway’s top league the Eliteserien.

Bodø/Glimt, who are in the Champions League, sit top of the table with Tromsø, who are in the Europa Conference League, are sixth.

Reigning Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt have won just one of four games in the Champions League this season.

Six matches into an eight-game league phase they sat 32nd out of 36 teams – without a win and needing unlikely victories over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid to make the play-offs.

They narrowly lost 4-3 to Scott McTominay’s Napoli side last month before being smashed 5-0 to Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich.

But they pulled off a major upset against Bayern’s main rivals in Borussia Dortmund on October 14 by beating the German giant 1-0 at home.

Long-serving boss Kjetil Knutsen calls them “a team from a small town up north”.

Bodo’s 50,000 population puts it in the same territory as Yeovil and Leighton Buzzard.

And it means that every single one of the town’s inhabitants could have piled into the San Siro this week with room to spare.

After winning promotion to Norway’s top division in 2017 they took just three years to clinch their first league title.

Since then they’ve won four of the last six, ahead of better-known rivals such as Rosenborg and Molde.

They are the only four top-division titles Bodo/Glimt have ever won –  and all of them have been overseen by talismanic manager Knutsen.
