Yashasvi Jaiswal has found his rhythm at the perfect time during India’s A tour of New Zealand, producing consecutive centuries in the ongoing unofficial Test series. The left-handed opener continued his impressive run of form in the third unofficial Test after carrying his momentum from the previous encounter. His latest hundred against New Zealand A at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Saturday, further strengthened his credentials ahead of India’s upcoming Test assignment against the Black Caps.

The 23-year-old had endured a difficult beginning to the series but has responded emphatically with the bat. His successive centuries have also attracted attention from cricket fans, with many reacting to his remarkable turnaround in form.

Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes second consecutive century against New Zealand A

Jaiswal reached his century during the second session of the third unofficial Test, bringing up the milestone in 127 deliveries. He reached the landmark by hitting a boundary off Dean Foxcroft in the 44th over of India’s first innings. The Mumbai-born batter eventually finished with 102 runs from 138 balls, striking 16 fours and two sixes. His innings provided India A with a strong foundation and demonstrated his ability to build a substantial knock in challenging overseas conditions.

Jaiswal’s contribution was particularly important because he shared a significant opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan. The pair added 175 runs for the first wicket in 46.3 overs, giving the visitors a solid platform in the red-ball contest. Sudharsan also made a valuable contribution with a half-century, ensuring that New Zealand A’s bowling attack struggled to make early breakthroughs. Their partnership allowed India A to establish control during the opening phase of the innings.

Back-to-back hundreds mark impressive turnaround in form

Jaiswal’s latest century came just days after an equally impressive performance in the second unofficial Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The left-hander had scored an unbeaten 155 in the second innings of that match on November 2, helping India A with a commanding batting effort. His knock was particularly significant considering the struggles he experienced earlier in the series.

Jaiswal had managed scores of just 17 and five in the first unofficial Test. He also suffered a disappointing first-innings dismissal for a duck in the second match, raising questions about his form during the tour.

However, the youngster has answered those concerns with two consecutive centuries. His ability to recover from a difficult start and produce substantial scores in successive matches highlights the consistency he has managed to find during the latter stages of the series.

Jaiswal strengthens his case for India’s opening spot

The ongoing India A assignment could prove important for Jaiswal as the senior Indian team prepares for its upcoming Test series against New Zealand. India are scheduled to begin the first Test against the Black Caps at Basin Reserve in Wellington on November 19. With the opening position attracting attention ahead of the contest, Jaiswal’s recent performances have significantly strengthened his chances of featuring at the top of the order.

The tour is also a notable one for the left-hander, as he is representing India in New Zealand for the first time. After struggling in the opening matches, Jaiswal has now delivered exactly the kind of performances that can boost his confidence before the senior team’s assignment. His consecutive hundreds, combined with the substantial opening partnership with Sudharsan, have made him one of the standout performers of the unofficial Test series.
