Back when Steve Kerr was hoisting (and making) plenty of 3s, he played alongside Michael Jordan as the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty expanded. Now, he sees a Jordanesque trait in the sweet-shooting superstar of the team he coaches.

On Thursday, Kerr appeared on ESPN’s pregame coverage to talk about Steph Curry’s sustained brilliance at the age of 38. According to Kerr, Curry’s ability to defy just about every defensive scheme is reminiscent of his old Bulls teammate.

“Honestly, it really does remind me of what it was like to play with Michael Jordan back in the day. Every single night, you just are amazed, and you marvel at what he’s capable of doing no matter what the defense does, but also just the longevity of it.”

Kerr, who won three NBA titles in Chicago after Jordan returned from a mid-90s hiatus, also praised Curry for his competitive fire.

“To see night after night, defenses doing everything possible to slow Steph down like they did with Michael … And yet the love for the game, the competitiveness, the passion, the desire to put on a show for the fans, there’s such great comparisons to be made there.”

In his first six games of the 2026-27 season, Curry is averaging 30.0 ppg on 46.8% shooting, including 42.9% from deep.

This season, it took the four-time NBA champion just four games to get to his first 40-piece, exploding for 44 points in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 28.

Steph Curry Credits Young Warriors Teammates for Team’s Winning Ways This Season

While Steph Curry has been shooting the lights out to start the 2026-27 campaign, he also recognizes the contributions of the Warriors’ young guns.

After the Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns 116-113 on Monday, Curry was asked about what makes the team “feel different” compared to last season. He promptly threw out a few names:

“Uh, Yax. BP taking another step forward. B-Will’s been great for us off the bench.”

The trio that Curry cited (Yaxel Lendeborg, Brandin Podziemski, Brandon Williams) offers some hope for Warriors fans that the team’s talent pipeline is alive and thriving.
