Strasbourg have reached a full agreement to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen on a season-long loan deal, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 24-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2024, has been in talks to join Strasbourg for several weeks and an agreement has now been struck for him to move to the Ligue 1 club for the duration of the 2026-27 campaign.

Jorgensen has played second fiddle to Robert Sanchez throughout the vast majority of his Chelsea career and he had been linked with a permanent exit ahead of this summer, with the west London giants keen to raise funds through player sales following their failure to qualify for Europe.

However, the possibility of a loan move to sister club Strasbourg soon emerged and he is set to be formally unveiled by Hugo Oliveira’s side shortly, according to Romano.

He posted on X: “Filip Jorgensen loan move from Chelsea to RC Strasbourg, finally set to be signed after documents completed today.

“Straight loan, no buy option clause. All done as Chelsea gave green light to proceed in the morning. Here we go, now confirmed.”

Jorgensen will replace Mike Penders as Strasbourg’s new first-choice goalkeeper this season, after the Belgian shot-stopper returned to Chelsea following a hugely successful loan spell last campaign.

The Denmark international has made 36 appearances for Chelsea since his arrival at the club, keeping 12 clean sheets, and he will become the sixth first-team player to leave Stamford Bridge on loan or permanently since the start of the 2026 summer transfer window.

What next for Chelsea?

After finalising Jorgensen’s loan move and the imminent sale of Trevoh Chalobah to Como, Chelsea are expected to announce the signing of Rayo Vallecano defender Pep Chavarria, who is set to join for a fee worth around €25 million.

Attention will then turn back to outgoings, with the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Liam Delap, David Datro Fofana and several others all earmarked for departures before the end of Deadline Day on 1 September.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also in advanced talks over loan deals for several academy youngsters, including Reggie Walsh, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Ishe Samuels-Smith. Shumaira Mheuka is expected to depart on a temporary deal, too.
