Jordan Henderson was the surprise star of the show in The Chelsea Chronicle’s player ratings from Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth.
Henderson scored two stunning long-range goals to bookmark an emphatic win for the Blues, who bounced back from three successive games without a win in style.
Joao Pedro also added a brace after Morgan Rogers had originally helped put Chelsea 2-0 up within the first three minutes.
Xabi Alonso will no doubt have been desperate to see his side keep a clean sheet, but ultimately will be delighted with what he saw from his side as a number of key names returned to the side.
Let’s take a look at our player ratings from the 5-1 demolition at Stamford Bridge…
As Chelsea pushed for their first Premier League clean sheet since January, Emi Martinez was on hand to make a number of fine saves in the first half. However, he was powerless to save Evanilson’s goal.
Preferred to Wesley Fofana in the starting XI, Josh Acheampong put in another strong performance which backed up why Alonso has so much faith in him.
A few nervy moments at the heart of the back three, but Maxence Lacroix grew into the game and was crucial in the Blues keeping their composure after conceding in the second half.
Levi Colwill has been under pressure to deliver a performance in Alonso’s back three system, and he delivered just that at Stamford Bridge against Bournemouth.
The Portuguese international looks at home in the wing-back position, especially in games where he can influence play in the final third too.
Found the net in superb fashion to open the scoring in the opening two minutes, and maybe even one-upped himself with a stunning free-kick. Played like he had a point to prove that he will be more important for Chelsea than just a dressing room presence.
Welcome back Moises Caicedo. How we have missed you. Chelsea’s duel-winning midfielder proved just how important to the Blues he is with a trademark performance in the middle of the park.
Pep Chavarria continues to be a livewire down the left after forcing his way into the starting side. Continuing to look a very shrewd acquisition for the Blues, picking up his first Premier League assist today too.
Cole Palmer’s sensational driving run set up Henderson’s goal. A typically creative display on a day where he further committed his future to the Blues.
Little bit of fortune about his goal, but Rogers was the main attacking force for the Blues as they continued to ask questions of Bournemouth after their early two strikes.
Took his time to get into the game, but took hardly any time at all to make his mark in the second half. A well-taken brace put the game beyond doubt for the Blues.
Came on to replace Caicedo, who was making his first start of the season.
A nice moment for Marco Palestra as he made his Chelsea debut off the bench, with the result already determined before he entered the field of play.
