Former Denver Broncos and current Tennessee Titans defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers could have possibly prevented a tragedy after a physical altercation occurred at the Titans' practice facility in Nashville last week.
Last Thursday, eight-year veteran defensive lineman Jordan Elliott got into a heated altercation with third-year offensive lineman JC Latham after the two got players tangled during practice. After being told to leave the field, Elliott was captured on security cameras leaving the facility to retrieve a gun from his vehicle, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
It was in this potentially downward-spiraling situation before Franklin-Myers stepped in, de-escalating the situation and preventing the situation from escalating.
Wilson detailed the altercation and Franklin-Myers' role in de-escalating the situation in an X post, which can be read here.
According to Wilson, Elliott had been dealing with personal matters leading up to the incident.
After designating Elliott as inactive for Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, the Titans released him on Tuesday following the incident. As of Wednesday morning, a league spokesperson confirmed that it is immediately launching an investigation into the altercation and the presence of a firearm at the Tennessee facility, via Titans Wire.
Franklin-Myers was a consummate leader when he played in Denver during the 2024-25 seasons, recording 14.5 sacks during his time with the Broncos. Denver chose not to re-sign JFM this spring and he ended up joining Tennessee's squad during free agency.
Through six games in the Music City, Franklin-Myers has recorded 1.5 sacks, one pass deflection, 12 total tackles and four quarterback hits.
If not for JFM, this story may have been much more tragic.
