LIV Golf star makes decisive statement on future after injury-hit spell
Ben Campbell plans to stay with LIV Golf for 2027

New Zealand golfer Ben Campbell has recommitted to LIV Golf, citing the team environment and memories he's created since joining the struggling rebel league.

Campbell joined Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats team and made a total of $6,122,430 during the first iteration of LIV Golf, despite being plagued by injuries throughout his career.

With LIV Golf’s future now facing major change thanks to its Saudi funding being pulled earlier this year, numerous players, including Adrian Meronk, Sergio Garcia, and Thomas Pieters, are following Jon Rahm's lead in departing, but some are deciding to hold out.

Richard Bland, Cameron Triangle, and Campbell are all waiting to see what ‘LIV Golf 2.0.’ might look like, even though the DP World Tour has announced that no LIV Golfer will be allowed to play in any of their events come 2027. In past years, the league was granting conditional status so players could tee off in a handful of their tournaments.

“It’s been great for me,” Campbell told Today's Golfer, referring to LIV Golf. “I really learned a lot from being around some of the best players and have so many memories.”

LIV Golf set itself apart from other tours through its team format. Within this structure, veterans like Phil Mickelson, who spearheaded the HyFlyers, gave many players the opportunity to learn top-level skills directly from experienced golfers.

“I would definitely stick with LIV next year if we can get LIV 2.0 over the line,” Campbell continued. “After events like Australia and South Africa and seeing the crowds that turned out I’m hoping LIV 2.0 continues.”

Facing a PGA Tour ban and no invitations to the DP World Tour in 2027, LIV Golf presents a less promising schedule compared to both its previous seasons and rival tours.

“I would definitely look to play a full schedule on the Asian Tour,” the 35-year-old, who is currently in rehab after hip surgery said. “I’d love to play 10 to 15 events in Asia and Australia then 10 LIV events. That would be a great schedule for me, so fingers crossed it works out.”

The deadline to commit to the DP World Tour is Nov. 16, and there will be no more miss-matching according to the European circuits CEO.

“Players need to make a choice,” said Guy Kinnings. “As we have said for many years, we have rules and regulations which are there to protect our Tour and which our members must all abide by. Players who are not willing to comply with our rules and regulations should not be seeking to join our Tour.”
