Mikel Arteta shared his pride after Arsenal battled hard to earn a credible point at the Allianz Arena against one of Europe's most-feared attacking forces in Bayern Munich.
Declan Rice's 82nd-minute pile-driver preserved the Gunners' unbeaten start to their European campaign on a night where Eberechi Eze was also on target.
Unfortunately, the draw was somewhat soured by Bukayo Saka's injury and Arteta provided further details and background on the blow that came inside the opening 10 minutes.

Positive performance on the whole?
"We take the draw, although that doesn't mean that we are really happy about it as we prepared to win the game. You could see that right from the beginning, the mindset, the purpose and the intention that the team has, to be very dominant, to come here and cause problems to Bayern, to press them and to attack them, and that's certainly what we've done. I think we were the better team in the first 25 minutes, scored the goal then unfortunately we got the injury of Bukayo which was a big setback. Ebs [Eze] then comes in and the team remains in the same way, but the margins are so small.
"We get something wrong after the corner, we just miss a pair and in two passes they are in front of goal. In another one we miss the shift in the throw-in and Harry Kane can put the ball 30 metres from the floor between us, in a space that doesn't exist. And that's the level. And after that, two teams that want to press each other, that want to attack, that constantly are very, very alive to hurt the opponent. We went down, the team showed incredible composure and spirit to keep going and attack them. The finishers came in and made an impact as well. And after scoring the goal, you see the reaction of the team. We wanted to take the ball and go and attack them again to come and win the game.
"And I think that says a lot about the team, especially looking back in the last two or three years, all the teams that have come here, the manner that they've battled. So I know the opponent that we have played, the players and the coach. That's why I think I have to give my big credit to our team and our players."
Saka's injury a consequence of schedule?
"I don't know. It was early, he didn't start the game. Then he started the game on the weekend and it was very early in the game. The level of intensity this game requires as well is something incredible. You could see it last night, the PSG-Barcelona game, what happened. This is man-to-man for 96 minutes in every action. There's no breathing. The stress, the quality, the intensity, the level that you need, it's unbelievable. It's the highest level. And those things happen, unfortunately. It doesn't look good at all, but we have to wait and see."
What's the issue?
"His quad."
Level of the game technically different to what we've seen before, biggest take away, from both teams?
"On my team, the personality and the courage that we had. To get the ball off them, to have the ball, to attack them, to be very composed. And especially to change gear from going really, really intense when you have to go and get into it, because everything is man-to-man, to us regaining the ball, what you do with that ball when your heart rate is at 180. And that's a different game that we normally play, especially in the Premier League."
This ground has brought pain for Arsenal, what does it say about character to battle back?
"The character, the personality, but also the quality that we showed. To understand what the game was requiring, because it changed. There were moments and they changed, especially the way they were pressing in two different ways. We were very aware of that. And I think the way the team had to understand the game was really, really good. Execution-wise, we had some great moments. We could have been even better in certain aspects, to be more clinical and to generate the final shot."
Other attackers need to step up in absence of Saka?
"I'm really impressed with all of them. [On Eze] I think it's a great game. Not only the ball, but the actions. His overall performance, I think his commitment without the ball as well. And when the other ones come in, I think they really contributed to this. First of all, the energy, and then to bring different tools that the team needed in that moment to get something out of the game. So, very pleased again. And finally, one here."
Alphonso Davies was left-wing for Bayern, did you expect Luis Diaz to start? How did you rate Davies?
"Well, we expected Luis Diaz to start. We were very aware that it was going to be a long game. So, we could understand and we thought about having different approaches as well. Because you cannot sustain that level of intensity. It's going to be a long game. We could see that yesterday, maybe yesterday in Barcelona again. So, where do you actually win the game I mean, with moments that we cannot play, when the space opens up a little bit. And we had to make some short stops a bit earlier than expected."
