11 players set to miss Luton vs Leicester City as Russell Martin gets double boost

Leicester City take on Luton Town tomorrow lunchtime looking to make it three wins in three

Wes Burns

Six Leicester City players will be out of the League One clash at Luton Town on Saturday, with Russell Martin welcoming back Christian McFarlane and Wes Burns.

City travel to Kenilworth Road for their first league meeting in Luton since August 2006 looking to make it three consecutive wins in the league. The Foxes narrowly defeated Doncaster Rovers last weekend before thrashing Bromley 4-0 on Tuesday night.

Luton were one of the teams predicted to compete at the top of League One this season, but Jack Wilshere's men sit below Leicester in 13th after winning just four of their opening 10 games.

Both teams will be missing a number of players. Martin is without Jakub Stolarczyk and Ben Nelson, who are both out with ACL injuries picked up earlier this season.

Jayden Joseph is another absentee for the Foxes and isn't expected to return back until after the international break next month. Will Alves filled in for the academy product at right wing-back, scoring his second goal of the season in the victory over Bromley.

Martin confirmed on Tuesday night that McFarlane would be ready to feature if needed after he missed the last three games. The City boss also revealed in his press conference that Burns is also available.

"Everyone's in a good place and Wes Burns is back as well after being unwell for a couple of days," he said. "We have Wes back to be in the squad, which is good news for us."

For the home team, Luton are without eight players. The latest casualty is defender Hakeem Odoffin, who picked up a muscle problem in Tuesday's win over Barnsley. Fellow defender Harrison Ashby will also miss the game, alongside Manchester United loanee Dan Gore.

They join Shaydon Morris, Benny Benagr, Jayden Luker, Sverre Sandal and Shandon Baptiste in the medical room at Kenilworth Road, leaving Wilshere with some decisions to make on Saturday.
