Dispersal order issued ahead of Boston United’s National League home game against Scunthorpe United

A dispersal order has been issued ahead of a football match following concerns that some people may be planning to cause disruption.

Lincolnshire Police have ordered additional officers to be in Boston from 10am tomorrow (Saturday, October 31) until 10pm.

Crowds are set to watch Boston United’s home derby game against rivals Scunthorpe United and officers have authorised the order in anticipation for potential disruption.

The dispersal order covers most of the town, including the Jakemans Stadium, and gives officers the power to require individuals to leave a specified area if they are contributing, or are likely to contribute to harassment, alarm, distress or crime and disorder.

Failure to comply with a direction to leave is an arrestable offence.

A spokesman said: “In considering the wider community, there should be an expectation that members of the public should be able to enjoy their community, or their visit to Boston, without fear of being involved in or witnessing disruption or disorder.”
