Findlay Curtis’ contract at Rangers has emerged as a discussion point this week following Derek McInnes’ press conference comments.
McInnes has admitted that he wants the Scotland international to stay at Ibrox for the foreseeable future by signing a new deal.
In his press conference ahead of the St Mirren game, he said: “He knows how much we want him to be here longer term. The club have made that clear to him as well. And Findlay’s telling me that he wants to be here.”

Chris Jack has admitted that Curtis has not been one to sulk behind the scenes despite the lack of game time and his future being up in the air. The 20-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season and he is yet to pen an extension.
The Rangers Review journalist has hinted at plans to keep the winger at Ibrox beyond the end of the season as he has praised his attitude. Being a Rangers fan, he has stated that he hopes Curtis signs a long-term contract and stays in Glasgow for the foreseeable future.
Jack told the publication’s YouTube channel: “He does have that quality in the final third. And I think his attitude is another big factor for him. He doesn’t seem to sulk. He doesn’t seem to get too down when he’s not starting these games. He always looks ready.
“Hopefully, longer term, that contract is sorted. Hopefully, he feels that Rangers is the best club for him and that deal can get done.”
Curtis has come up the ranks at Ibrox and knows all the obstacles he’s had to face to get to where he is. He is loved by the fans and the staff and is aware that he will get a lot more leeway, as other players who have not come up representing the youth sides.
His talent is there for everyone to see and despite his lack of game time, he was called up to Scotland’s World Cup squad. Starting him regularly would put an unnecessary burden on his shoulders, and given his maturity, he’s expected to understand that.
It’s a good thing that McInnes is in situ, and he can explain these things to Curtis, being a veteran of the game. Everything the player is saying and doing suggests that he wants to stay, so it seems likely that he pens a new deal regardless of assurances over game time.
