Baltimore Ravens fans are calling for the team to cut kicker Tyler Loop, and they did not wait until Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills ended. Loop hit the left upright on a 34-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter at Highmark Stadium, leaving Baltimore behind 13-7.
It was not his first misstep of the afternoon. His opening kickoff sailed out of bounds, which put the ball at the Buffalo 40, and the Bills drove 60 yards for a touchdown on a 1-yard Josh Allen run.
The day had gone sideways for the Ravens almost from the start. Lamar Jackson hurt his thumb on Baltimore’s first offensive play and was ruled out in the first quarter.
Tyler Huntley, who had started the previous three games, went down with a toe injury in the second and was ruled out at halftime.
That handed the offense to Joe Fagnano, an undrafted rookie making his NFL debut. Fagnano inherited good field position and immediately completed passes of 15 yards to Josh Cuevas and 13 yards to Ja’Kobi Lane.
A 9-yard sack and two incompletions followed, bringing Loop out on fourth-and-16 from the Buffalo 16 with 7:41 left in the half. A make would have pulled the Ravens within 13-10. Across the field, Tyler Bass had already connected from 56 yards in the first quarter.
One fan responded with what read like a farewell: “I’m sorry man Tyler Loop you gotta go. Dallas was fun. You had your ups, but man its gotta end.”
Others skipped the sentiment, with another fan writing that Loop “can stay in Buffalo” before adding, “Cut. Gone.”
One fan was just as blunt: “Surely his last game for Baltimore. It’s inexcusable.”
Another fan set the bar at Baltimore’s next game: “If we’re any bit serious, he won’t be our starter next week.” That is a short window, with the Ravens hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium.
Not every critic stopped at the kicker. Baltimore came into Sunday at 4-3 and fourth in the AFC North, and one fan widened the call: “Whole team gotta do some soul searching and it starts with people getting cut.”
For one fan, it was the pairing of errors that stung: “Kickoff out of bounds to start the game and a missed chip shot FG. I can’t anymore.”
Another fan made it a question of trust: “This simply can’t be the standard, it’s a coin toss every time he goes in, even if it’s a 30-yard (attempt). I just don’t feel confident in him.”
In the 2025 season, Loop went 30-for-34 on field goals, and he did not miss a field goal from inside 50 yards until his last kick of the season. Loop ranks No.12 on PFN’s Impact Rankings with a score of 82.2.
That kick came on January 4 in Pittsburgh, with the AFC North title on the line. The sixth-round pick had already kicked off out of bounds that night, giving the Pittsburgh Steelers the ball at their own 40, and his 44-yard attempt as time expired went wide right as the Ravens fell 26-24 to end their season.
“Unfortunately, the nature of the [kicker] job is you have makes, and those are awesome, and unfortunately, you have misses,” Loop said afterward.
On Sunday, he got another chance in the third quarter and made a 26-yard field goal that cut Buffalo’s lead to 16-10. The Bills answered with a 5-yard James Cook III touchdown run and led 23-10 late in the third quarter.
