Amid the speculation, Ravichandran Ashwin has named a potential new team for the India all-rounder.

Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the biggest talking points ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction, with speculation continuing over his future at the Mumbai Indians. Following a disappointing campaign in 2026, reports have suggested that the all-rounder could part ways with the five-time champions before the next season. Amid growing discussions about his potential destination, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has identified a new team as a possible landing spot for the India star.

Hardik Pandya grabs limelight amid Mumbai Indians exit speculation

The Mumbai Indians endured a difficult IPL 2026 campaign, managing just four victories and finishing ninth in the standings. Their underwhelming performance has fuelled discussions about potential changes to the squad ahead of the next season, with Pandya’s future becoming a major subject of debate.

Speculation surrounding the all-rounder’s departure has also brought Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders into the conversation as possible destinations. Meanwhile, reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma could return to the captaincy have added another layer of intrigue to the situation.

However, Pandya’s departure from Mumbai Indians has not been officially confirmed in the information provided. His future will remain a significant talking point as franchises evaluate their squads and consider potential trades before the deadline.

Ravichandran Ashwin picks new team as potential destination for Pandya

While Chennai Super Kings have featured prominently in discussions about Pandya’s possible move, Ashwin believes a transfer to the five-time champions would be difficult to arrange. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former India spinner addressed speculation that MS Dhoni could personally persuade Pandya to join Chennai ahead of IPL 2027.

“There have been conversations that Dhoni will personally convince Hardik Pandya to come to CSK. It will be a great addition for CSK. But in my opinion, it is a real far-shot,” Ashwin said.

Instead, Ashwin pointed towards Rajasthan Royals as a more likely destination for the all-rounder, suggesting that the inaugural IPL champions could be leading the race for his signature.

“From what I’ve heard, RR are at the top of the list in the Hardik trade,” he added.

Pandya remains a hot property ahead of IPL 2027 mini-auction

A move to Rajasthan could offer Pandya a fresh challenge while giving the franchise another experienced Indian all-rounder capable of contributing with both bat and ball. Rajasthan also have Ravindra Jadeja in their ranks after the veteran all-rounder returned from Chennai ahead of the previous season. His presence could make the prospect of adding another proven international performer particularly appealing for the Royals.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Pandya is likely to attract considerable interest if Mumbai Indians decide to entertain offers. His experience as an international all-rounder and IPL captain makes him a valuable option for franchises looking to strengthen their leadership and playing combinations.

Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have been mentioned in the ongoing speculation, while Ashwin’s comments have brought Rajasthan Royals firmly into the discussion. However, the eventual outcome will depend on the franchises’ plans and whether a trade can be agreed upon.

The IPL retention deadline is scheduled for November 15, while the IPL 2027 mini-auction is set to take place on December 16 in Goa.
