Vega Ioane handled an unusual assignment during his rookie season, moving between right guard and center while producing encouraging pass protection results.
According to Ravens communications, Ioane is the NFL’s only player this season with at least 100 snaps at two offensive line positions. He also has not allowed a sack.
A more telling measure is how quickly defenders have been able to threaten the quarterback. Citing Next Gen Stats, Baltimore reported that Ioane is one of only 11 offensive linemen among 192 players with at least 50 pass-blocking snaps to allow no quick pressure. Quick pressures are those generated in under 2.5 seconds. Ioane’s inclusion places him among approximately 5.7% of qualifying linemen who have avoided allowing pressure within that window.
The distinction matters for an offense that needs enough time to execute its passing concepts. Avoiding immediate penetration gives the quarterback more time to complete his initial reads and operate within the play’s timing.
The numbers do not mean Ioane has allowed no pressure whatsoever. They identify two specific accomplishments: no sacks charged to him and no pressures arriving within the quick-pressure threshold.
Ioane’s versatility has been especially valuable with Baltimore’s center injuries. If Cam Jurgens debuts, the rookie could return to right guard, giving the Ravens another chance to establish continuity up front.
Baltimore still needs more consistent offensive production after scoring only 10 points against Cleveland. Ioane’s ability to handle two positions while avoiding sacks and immediate pressure provides a useful foundation as the Ravens prepare for Cincinnati.
