The New York Jets haven't enjoyed the kind of season their fans envisioned, but there is an interesting accomplishment worth celebrating. Despite their offensive inconsistencies, the Jets have developed a level of balance that very few teams in the NFL can match.
According to the Jets' communications department, citing TruMedia data, New York and the Buffalo Bills are the only two teams this season to have multiple players record 100-yard rushing games and multiple players record 100-yard receiving games.
Five different New York players have contributed to the distinction, highlighting the number of ways the offense has found production despite its struggles. Here's how they break down:
Braelon Allen: Two 100-yard rushing performances.
Breece Hall: One 100-yard rushing performance.
Garrett Wilson: Two 100-yard receiving performances.
Omar Cooper Jr.: Two 100-yard receiving performances.
Kenyon Sadiq: One 100-yard receiving performance.
The accomplishment is particularly interesting considering the Jets' struggles to establish a consistent offensive identity. Allen and Hall have demonstrated the ability to carry the ground game, while Wilson, Cooper and Sadiq have each shown they can produce significant numbers through the air.
New York still has plenty to prove, but having five players capable of generating 100-yard performances gives the offense something valuable to build around. The challenge now is getting those contributions to translate into more consistent production and, ultimately, more victories.
