Over the past few weeks, Marcus Rashford has been linked with an audacious January move to Everton. Now, Jack Grealish may have just thrown the doors open for this deal to happen.
As his campaign for Manchester United continues to be a disaster, Everton are reportedly discussing a move for Marcus Rashford to offer him a way out in January. It would be a massive coup for Everton in terms of marketing and also on the pitch if he finds any sort of form.
However, as incredible as the deal would be if it happened, there was a harsh reality for Everton around Rashford, that being he earns £300,000-a-week, and adding even half of that, in the event of a loan, wouldn’t be sustainable on top of a stacked left-wing position. But Jack Grealish may have changed this.

What are your thoughts on a potential move for Marcus Rashford? 👀 Everton and Man United are said to be in talks over January move…
On Thursday night, Grealish was left out by Everton for disciplinary reasons, having skipped training. David Moyes said afterwards that it was a club decision to leave Grealish out.
Jay Bothroyd said Moyes’ reaction was telling and indicates that he is fed up with Grealish, as he usually would defend his players. So, assuming there is a fallout, perhaps Grealish’s loan will be cut short in January, and his place could be taken by Rashford.
Everton pays Grealish £225,000-a-week of his £300,000 salary in a 75-25 split with Manchester City. Therefore, Grealish’s leaving could see a similar deal offered to Manchester United to have Rashford arrive as his replacement.
Having both wouldn’t be possible for Everton, so it could be as simple as one in, one out. Rashford would also be a better player for Everton in that he is direct, a goal threat, quick, and surely motivated to prove everyone wrong.
Rashford has looked decent for United at times, but has ultimately been dragged down by the struggles overall at Old Trafford as they look set for another managerial change.
Given how he has looked since re-joining, £225,000-a-week would be much better spent on Rashford. Maybe the Rashford rumours even coincided with uncertainty over Grealish.
The path could be clear, so don’t be shocked to see those Rashford links remain and continue to heat up. Of course, there may be nothing, but if Everton are done with Grealish, there could be an equally marquee arrival on the way.
