Chelsea are already making plans for the January transfer window, with Xabi Alonso getting a clearer idea of where he wants to strengthen his squad.

The Blues have been linked with several exciting young midfielders, as well as a familiar face from Barcelona.

There is also some positive news regarding Estevao, with the club reportedly taking steps to secure his long-term future.

Here is everything you need to know about Chelsea's latest transfer news.

Chelsea building weekly scouting reports on Newcastle star

Chelsea are continuing to monitor some of the most exciting young talents in English football, with Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley the latest name to emerge on their radar.

According to Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips, the Blues are compiling weekly reports on the 20-year-old's progress, alongside three other youngsters: Harrison Armstrong, Josh King and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Miley is an interesting option given his experience at Newcastle. He has already made 89 appearances for the Magpies and can operate in defensive midfield or at right-back.

There is no suggestion that Chelsea are preparing an immediate offer, but the regular scouting reports show just how closely they are following his development.

His contract at Newcastle runs until 2032, so any potential deal would be difficult to negotiate.

Chelsea finally have reason to believe Bournemouth will sell Alex Scott

Alex Scott remains one of Chelsea's main midfield targets for January, and there is now reason to believe Bournemouth could be more willing to let him go.

The Cherries have won six consecutive matches in all competitions since their defeat against Chelsea, scoring 16 goals without conceding. Remarkably, they have managed that run without Scott, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury.

Bournemouth have previously rejected a £64million offer from Chelsea and reportedly value the midfielder at around £100million. However, their impressive results without him could make his departure easier to negotiate.

Scott would be an excellent addition to Alonso's midfield, offering versatility and Premier League experience. Chelsea should not expect to get him cheaply, but they have good reason to feel optimistic.

Chelsea make major Estevao decision after Xabi Alonso U-turn

There is also some welcome news for supporters concerned about Estevao's lack of playing time.

Spanish outlet AS reports that Chelsea are working on a new contract for the Brazilian, which would include a significant pay rise. The club reportedly want him to become 'the face of the team'.

It follows an impressive performance against Manchester United, where the teenager was handed a starting opportunity and showed exactly what he can offer.

Alonso has also appeared to soften his stance after previously giving Estevao limited minutes, admitting that the youngster had shown he deserved more playing time.

Chelsea clearly see him as a major part of their future, but a new contract will only solve half the problem. The manager now needs to make sure he gets enough opportunities to fulfil his potential.

Xabi Alonso has already decided Chelsea's top January transfer target

Finally, Chelsea could be preparing to revisit their long-standing interest in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde.

Spanish journalist Juan Jesus claims the Blues have made the Frenchman their 'absolute priority' for January, with both Barcelona and the player already informed of their intentions.

Alonso reportedly wants to contact Kounde's representatives, viewing him as an important part of his defensive plans.

The 27-year-old's ability to play at right-back and centre-back makes him a versatile defender, and a potential replacement for the outbound Malo Gusto.

However, Barcelona are not prepared to simply let him leave. The club will reportedly only listen to offers if Kounde himself asks to move.

Chelsea have been here before, having come close to signing him from Sevilla in 2022. This time, Alonso will hope the outcome is different.
