Manchester City will go for eight wins from eight games to start the 2026-27 Premier League season when they visit Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday (7:30 am ET).

Enzo Maresca’s side kept their perfect start intact with a 3-2 victory over newly promoted Ipswich Town last weekend, but they lost winger Antoine Semenyo to a knee injury in the process. Semenyo is expected to be out for eight weeks, putting him back in the team just before the new year. Man City were fortunate that Erling Haaland, who quickly limped off the field at full-time, only suffered a knock and is expected to be available on Saturday after not featuring against AEK Athens in the UEFA Champions League at midweek.

As for Aston Villa, it was a rocky start to the season without a win and just one point from their first four games (with one goal scored) but Unai Emery’s side has won two of their last three and found the finishing touch in the process (six goals). They are, however, cruising right along in the Champions League win three wins and a dozen goals to start the campaign. Villa have one key injury worry of their own, with midfielder Johan Manzambi to face a late fitness test before kickoff.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City prediction

Aston Villa push the top teams as far and hard as anyone in the PL every time they face them, but Haaland with a full week or rest is a scary prospect to come up again (assuming no ill effects from his knock), and with Phil Foden rounding back into form the loss of Semenyo can also be navigated. Aston Villa 1-2 Man City.
