Plans announced for NI's first new championship golf links course for 100 years
Tiger Woods looks poised poised to bring his design ambitions to Northern Ireland, with the 15-time major champion linked to a proposed £30m golf course on the north coast.
The project, planned for Bellarena close to Magilligan, could become one of the most significant additions to the island of Ireland's golfing landscape in generations.
According to the Derry Journal , Woods and his TGR Design team have been chosen to shape the proposed championship layout, which was unveiled last year by Galgorm Collection.
It would deliver Northern Ireland’s first new links course of its kind in 100 years, adding to the international appeal of a coastline already synonymous with golf.

There are already world renowned links courses like Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Royal County Down on Northern's Ireland's coasts, making it a hotspot for golf tourism internationally.
Woods, who holds the record for the most major victories in the modern era (15), has established a growing presence in golf course architecture through TGR Design. His reported involvement would give the Bellarena scheme a high-profile name as plans progress.
A Causeway Coast and Glens councillor told the Derry Journal that a briefing had confirmed Woods had been signed up for the project.
However, Galgorm Collection has yet to publicly identify its preferred designer.
A company spokesperson said work was continuing on proposals for the championship course, with an announcement on the design appointment to follow in due course for the £30m development.
