Paige Bueckers inadvertently sparked rumors over a blockbuster trade to the Atlanta Dream after she appeared courtside at the Atlanta Hawks.
On Saturday, Bueckers was in attendance as the Hawks clinched a 124-121 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Jalen Johnson put up a game-high 30 points on an efficient 11-of-17 shooting from the floor, putting up seven rebounds and six assists to boot.
The win means the Hawks continue their fine start to the season, moving to 7-4. Former WNBA Rookie of the Year Bueckers was there to take in the action, just hours after confirming her split from Dallas Wings teammate Azzi Fudd.
The Hawks posted about Bueckers’ appearance, writing: “Paige pulled up!” along with a star and dribbling emojis. And in vintage WNBA fashion, Bueckers’ appearance at the NBA game sparked trade rumors.
One user wrote: “Make it happen @AtlantaDream.” The Dream could be looking at making a move following their WNBA Finals loss to the Golden State Valkyries.
Bueckers averaged 20.9 points per game last season — her sophomore campaign — as she put up 5.9 assists and 4.1 rebounds. She would undoubtedly slot into the Dream lineup, although she would face competition from the likes of Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard.
The Dream even playfully reacted to Bueckers’ appearance at State Farm Arena. The franchise posted: “She didn’t even check in with us. That’s wild.”
“She didn’t want to spoil the surprise of her being traded to the dream,” one fan replied.
The chances of a trade out of Dallas are unlikely, but not impossible after Bueckers confirmed her split from Fudd. Their relationship became a talking point across the 2025 WNBA season, although it turns out they separated before the start of Fudd’s rookie campaign.
Speaking on Friday's episode of Fudd Around and Find Out, the pair confirmed the split. “Before we continue with anything else, Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone. We are no longer together. I don’t know how else to say that,” Fudd shared.
Bueckers confirmed the news. “Yeah, we're not together anymore,” she stated. “It's been, for everybody wondering... it's been a while. It's been like over a year. And [I wanted] to share that because everybody's going to be like, 'Oh my gosh, they're teammates; how is this going to work?’”
Dallas selected Fudd first overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft in April. However, Bueckers added: “We were not together before she got drafted, so all those narratives can go to bed.
“She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it, and she's an amazing human. Amazing basketball player, and we're still friends; we're still cool. We broke up over a year ago, so we played an entire season together.”
Fudd and Bueckers are one of two pairs of college teammates to both be selected first overall in the WNBA Draft, joining fellow UConn stars Maya Moore and Tina Charles from 2010 and 2011.
